Peru Isamu Noguchi was intensely interested in the architectural and sculptural sites of the pre-modern world, and in 1983 he visited the ruins of Macchu Pichu in Peru. He traveled with his collaborator and stonecutter from Japan, Masatoshi Izumi. Together they marveled at the stonework of this civilization of the Andes, and back in Japan they incorporated elements of what they had seen in the garden that Noguchi was constructing at his studio on the island of Shikoku. |
